Orange S&W N-frame grip question
Got the orange S&W grips for my 629-6 N-fram revolver for Christmas and thought they would be just a switch over. But as usual I see these grips don't have the side screw to hold them on but have the screw coming up through the bottom of the grip. These grips were ordered direct from S&W but there must be something else I need to attach these to my gun. Any suggestions as to what other parts I will need to order to make these grips fit. They may be made by Hogue for S&W. I have seen on this forum that they will work BUT.
Thanks in advance for any help.

You'll need the stirrup that attaches to the frame, this is usually included with the grip.
See this PDF file for details ... http://www.getgrip.com/PDF%20files/I...noGrip%202.pdf

Are you an Oklahoma State fan? I hadn't thought about orange grips for my S&Ws, but that might work for me! Go 'Pokes!

They are ugly as sin but I an't lookin for purdy.
Called Hogue and they are sending me a stirup kit so I can make these S&W tamer orange grips work. Very nice of Hogue as they didn't even charge me anything. I do think these orange grips are a little tackier feeling than the original black grips but maybe that is because they are new and the finger grooves might be slightly deeper but not much.
The only reason I changed them is I am kind of trying to duplicate the S&W " Emergency Survival Tool Kit " that S&W put out a few years ago. Except instead of the .460 or .500 snubbies I am just using my 629-6 5" gun with some other substituations like orange Tuff products quick strips for ammo, orange Silva compass, and a surefire defender flashlight. The original had neither a place for extra ammo or a flashlight. There will undoubtedly be some other changes like instead of the S&W extreme ops knife I will be using the Doug Ritter orange RSK MK1 survival folder. Trying to keep an orange theme on everything. This is just something to do for the long winter months but I am liking the look of the whole project.

Sounds like a fun project. Be sure to post some photos of it when you've completed your kit.

Resurrecting old threads can be a problem...you think you are giving someone an answer to a question, not realizing they posted YEARS ago, and may no longer be around. It is just not good form. THAT is my point.

It's not as bad on this site but it's kind of a pet peeve of mine. If you post a new thread about a previously discussed topic you get hammered and told to use the search function. If you resurrect an old thread you get hammered for that. What's a guy to do?

A common dilemma, but as you noted this Forum's members are usually very nice and patient. Witness how many new posts about +P .38 use, revolvers with CTG stamped on the barrel and "what is my ____ worth" with no other details given that are answered with patience and a little humor thrown in.
Looking at the date of the first post in a thread will be a good indicator of an active one, and Search Site/Google works best in the Search function. Hope this is helpful.

Happens all the time. I try and look at dates of posts before I reply. I often see a post about a guy with a question about which firearm should I buy, A or B? There will be a recent post telling him to BUY A! Then I look at the whole thread, and see it was posted in 2008!
Nice revolver by the way!
