686 + 4" revolver 7 shot, .357 mag
Good evening,
I'm new to this forum, and I wanted to get an idea about what y'all thought about the 686 +. I'm saving my pennies so this will be my next purchase. I live the idea of a 7 shot revolver, in .357 magnum. I'd use this for personal protection and range shooting.
Thanks in advace for your input,

No matter how rounds it has, the 686 4" is a sweet gun. There are lots of good holster choices and it's about the max length for carry. With the right rig it will ride close to the body and there a couple good shoulder rigs too. You will fall in love with it. With steady hands and young eyes you can shot 1" groups at 25 yds. Enjoy it!

I have the 686 Plus in 3" barrel. Consider it if you are going to carry. Handles a little nicer than my 4" 6 shot and is just as accurate.

I have this same gun and carry it every day. Very comfortable to shoot and conceals very well in my Simply Rugged Pancake holster OWB.

Well I have a 686 SSR, and I love it. The 686+ it's a fine choice. I grew up in Spring, Tx. You shoot at Carter's Country? Great town though its grown quite a lot in the last 15 years or so. Good luck with the quest on the 686

The 686+, 4" is a good choice. I carry mine in an Alessi CQC holster where permitted. Tom (at Alessi) recommends against IWB or the CQCS (snap) holster, which put too much tension on the cylinder for a smooth draw. A two-piece pancake holster like the CQC holds both the frame and butt high and tight to your side.

I just bought a new 3" 686-6 plus and really like it. Its as accurate as I am and has very nice balance. Taking one inch off the barrel and boring another cylinder hole brings the weight down to less than an ounce more than the 4" K frames. I personally don't think that I could conceal carry a 4" model. Not with the clothes that I wear. I have a Simply Rugged Sourdough Pancake holster and some Kim Ahrend finger grove Cocobolo grips on the way.

One other option, a nice used 686 dash 4 or earlier. No MIM, no lock, forged hammer and trigger, less money.

The 686+ four-inch is a marvelous revolver. The double action pull is smooth as glass; the single action is a target trigger. You will be pleased.
