Angry Help 686 rear sight removal

Just got a new 7 shot 686 & a box of new Meprolight night sights that I tried to put on. Long story short, i turned the rear sight screw counter clockwise to break the screw instead of clockwise like the directions say. Now the rear screw just clicks & spins when I turn it clockwise. Any suggestions? Yes I'm a newbie & my 1st post.
Thanks Jim

I saw midway USA video & he turned the screw the same way I did, counterclockwise to break the screw but the directions say to turn it clockwise so I guess it didn't matter. Anyway, I got out the screw head, small detent & spring. Your right, they are small. Is there anyway to remove the rear sight blade w/o the special spanner bit?
Thanks Jim

Once you break the screw and remove the screw head with the plunger and spring, the sight blade should move out the left side just by tapping it a little. No need to take off the peened nut.

Thanks for the confidence to tap on it. It loosened it up so I could unscrew the nut & then tap out the blade. The meprolight hole for the spring & detent measures .065 in dia & the detent is .070 in Dia. I read somewhere a while ago where someone mentioned they had to drill it out so I guess I'll be doing the same because the detent will not fit into the meprolight screw head.

Thanks again
Jim
