I have a 19-6 I got a GREAT deal on because 'something' happened to the finish on the cylinder. I didn't want to just do a re-blue so I thought PINTO. I have always wanted one but have never seen a model 19 pinto for sale so I sent mine to S&W with instructions to 'pinto it.'
The nickel is beautiful but the blue is something I have only seen on 1950's, 1960's Python. It is a very royal blue.
Sorry I don't remember the site member who tracks pinto's but I want to make sure this gets logged as a REPLICA, not original. The S.N. # is BMW619X. I got this back today and just want to make sure the history is known. The beautiful grips are from Patrick, and Rose, Grashorn.

Always wondering about sending off a beat up model 19 snub (i will have one....some day) and getting it reblued.

I have wondered if they still had a good bluing method...as it seems most revolvers today are stainless or flat black...

That is one beautiful looking revolver. The grips go nicely with it and the nickeled sideplate screws are a nice touch. You have excellent taste. Well done, and at a great price too.

You may need to start a new trend up north. That sure looks like a Barbecue Gun to me.

I just bought a 4", 19-3 last week. The only blueing wear is a little at the muzzle and a little bit on a couple spots on the cylinder..

I may end up sending mine to S&W for the pinto treatment.. Hope you don't despise a copycat!

S&W didn't list the 'pinto' on their refinishing services but they price royal blue, and nickel, the same, I sent a letter with the gun explaining EXACTLY what I wanted ROYAL BLUE, and what I wanted nickel plated. It came out to $257, shipped back. The same as either their Royal Blue, or nickel.
Sorry for the pictures, cheap camera, and no talent, but their Royal Blue is so deep, and polished so well, it almost looks like a clear coat on a high end European car. I am now thinking of having them do another only in the reverse 'pinto' style,blue cylinder, barrel, screws, and cylinder release with a nickel frame.
For those that say "They can't finish them like they used to" they are WRONG! S&W custom shop can do it but to do all their handguns to this quality would be cost prohibitive.

that is pimp beautiful and i can't believe the cost! i was wondering how they broke it down if you wanted 2 tone, very, very, nice. since i got that nickel 586, i want to regain all the revolvers that i sold when i was younger, 19, 686, etc. where and how much did the grips set you back? i just ordered some tulip wood finger grip with the big butt from hogue for $114 but a 40 day wait!!!

The grips are from Home I think they were $135-$145? VERY reasonable for handmade bone grips with medallions. He is famous for his S&W grips.
