Good to be here. Thanks in advance for the helpful and useful info. Have an 81 production M29 44 mag. Hate to start with a problem ...but at first try at the range something broke, the hammer won't pull back, the cylinder does not want to slide out and it has an internal rattle sounds like a spring broke. Any ideas Thanks..

I don't have a clue but if you can't open the cylinder then it could be that the extractor rod is loose. If you can grip the knurled end of the extractor rod and try to thighten it then maybe you get get the cylinder open. I'm not sure what thread direction it is so try both to see if you can tighten it. I had this happen to a model 64 once and my gunsmith told me what happened and stood there right in front of me and fixed it.

Welcome to the Forum.
I agree with Fyimo. If it's an '81 model it will have a left hand thread.
