Default 581 production number

SCSW mentions the number of 681's produced but not the 581's. Does anyone have the approximate number? I know they are not concidered rare, but I don't see many around.

Never seen a figure, but I'd think it's substantially less than the 53K 681s since 581s only ran for 8 years compared to 12 years for the stainless twin. I like my 581 and it's no-nonsense look.
