Default LOVE small town gun shows

617 no dash 4" matching box, with papers. It's a small show, maybe 1/2 the size of a basketball court, but I always find a gem there. There was also a 99% 2" nickel 15-2 that was calling my name but thank goodness I didn't bring more money.

Well, the money you spent seems to have been worth it. Nice gun.

Nice!! I'd much rather go to small shows. Sometimes there's nothing, sometimes there's the deal of the century!

The smaller shows usually have guys with 1-2 tables@ $20 each who bring their personal guns to sell but mostly to get out of the house for a bit, see some old gun friends, and maybe make a few bucks.
Big shows have guys with 10-15 tables, and 2-4 employees, that HAVE to sell 50 Glocks just to break even and they ain't even gonna mess an old wheel gun. I bought a 3" 66-2 from one of the mega dealers for $550 who said " I know it's worth more but I hate to deal in old ****. I got it in trade and just want to get rid of it." I was happy to remove that "old ****" from his hands.

I would love to go to one of your area gun shows some day! Our shows seem to get worse every year.

I went to one area show today just to remind me how much of a waste of time and money the shows in MY area are. It was mostly table after table of the same over priced junk for sale. Most of the new guns could be purchased for the same price, or less, in the local gun stores. A few were even ticketed at MSRP!

There were some private collections, but it was mostly area dealers that make the gun show curcuit each week. I recently found out the dealers are making the rounds of the tables early, and buying up all of the good deals from the private collections before the doors even open.

It has just become a waste of time and $6 for me now. I'm done.

Congratulations on the purchase as that's a beauty with all the goodies to go with it and it is in awesome condition.

I think the grips were traded out as the 617 no dash came with S&W combat grips that were discontinued at the 617-1 engineering change. A lot of sellers remove the combat grips and sell them seperately for between $150 and $250 depending on the color and grain in them and replace them with rubber grips or S&W magna grips.

That's a BEAUTIFUL 617 ! ! ! Looking to purchase handguns at Gun shows in my area is a waste of time, between regulations and prices. I go to kill some time, have breakfast with friends, and perhaps buy some ammo or supplies.........

Nice pick-up. That's a beauty. Try not to buy all the old
"pieces of xxxx" in the state. Leave a few for us greenhorns.

I think you are right about the grips. I probably got a set, or two, around here SOMEWHERE
