637
I did a search of the forum for 637 and nothing came up which was surprising. I know this is the bottom of the barrel model for Smith, but is there anything wrong with it?
Thanks for the time!

There is nothing wrong w/it and I cannot imagine why it should be at the bottom of any barrel. This is the alloy frame version of the classic Chief Special w/the exposed hammer. A lot of cops carried them off duty and for back-up during my LEO days.

Thanks for the info I couldn't find anything negative online, but when I came here and couldn't find any info it made me concerned. The only reason i stated bottom of the barrel is because it is one of the cheapest offerings from Smith.

I have carried mine for several years and thought the finish would wear by now. It has not. Shoots to point of aim and it is lightweight and +P rated with stainless cylinder and barrel. I like it.

I would'nt worry about the alloy frame revolvers at all. I have a newer642 and its an excellent CC revolver. I think S&W is actually getting smart about offering these guns at a lower MSRP to take advantage of the interest these firearms have to those looking for an affordable CC weapon. My LGS has a new 637 for $379.99 and the new 642 without IL is $399.99. IMO these are an excellent value.

The bottom of the barrel is the gun thats so big you leave it at home or in your vehicle. Cant tell you how many countless arrests have been made by the off duty in big cities with that model or its forefathers but personal defense is its real niche.

I love mine and shoot it often. I bobbed the hammer and put a Clipdraw on it and carry it AIWB. If I pocket carry, I use my bobbed 337pd.

I was just out shooting mine this afternoon. Shoots POA, fits like a glove, and is one sweet carry piece!
