M27 & M28 worth
Have these two lying around for awhile. Just want to get an idea of what they're worth now-a-days.
This is a 27-3 50th Anniversary edition. Never fired.
Complete with presentation case, and paperwork. Also have the original outer cardboard box. (note: gun stored in a safe...this was just for pics)

Next is a very clean (fired very little) 28-2 pinned and recessed.

To a collector, the 50th anniversary should bring $800+ depending on what part of the country you are located in. Thought this one might be on the C&R list and eligible for import even into the restricted states.
I bought my second one for $695 in south Florida about 2 years ago.
I have not paid attention to model 28s The last clean one I bough was more than a few years ago and cost $200.

I couldn't tell you a thing about Commemoratives and the like except that you aren't supposed to shoot them.

One thing I note from the picture is that the stocks are aftermarket. Do you have the original stocks too? Six inch M28s seem to run a little less than their four inch counterparts. Can't be sure from the picture, but is that the .400 inch smooth trigger? That may be of interest to some buyers.
As pictured, my guesstimate on price range for the M28-2 would be $450 to $600. A lot depends on where you try to sell it. It's a nice gun that is enjoying some popularity right now so I expect no one here would sell it for $450.

The 27-3 will bring around $600 or so for two reasons, one it's unpinned and reccessed and two it's a commemorative which bring less money than a standard model.
The 28, being a 6", not a 4", will only be worth $450 in my part of the world.

For the 28-2: I paid $650 on Gunbroker for a six inch model that supposedly had 12 rounds fired through it. It came with the original box & papers. I acquired a tool kit still in the plastic from a Forum member. It had a really nice set of factory targets when I got it and I added a set of factory magnas to maintain authenticity.
At the time, I felt I may have paid a little too much for the gun, but I was able to inspect at the LGS where I work and it was perfect. Blue Book says it is worth $495 in 100% condition. My gun would be considered 98% or 99% since it has been fired out of the factory. I think that's awful low. It's probably more like between $500 and $600 IMHO.
I bought a Fiftieth Anniversary Registered Magnum (27-3) off GB. Paid $550 for it without the box. It did have the original certificate with envelope and hang tag. After looking around, was able to get a box from another Forum member. The gun is unfired.
My on line Blue Book listing shows this gun to be worth $775 in 100% condition. They're generally low priced compared to prices in my area.

Ok, thanks for the info.
The 50th Anniversary gun was purchased on impulse. I really have no desire to shoot it. As weird as it sounds, it just feels good having it in my safe.
As for the 6" 28-2, my records show I picked it up for $400. It did come with factory grips but I put the larger aftermarkets on it to better fit my hand.
All in all, I won't lose money on these two pieces. If not for anything, you guys can at least enjoy the pics. As we all know, we LOVE pics !!

Dregg, if you ever get the urge to sell the M28-2, 6", I would love for it to keep my M28-2, 4" company. Beautiful Smiths, but I like the M28-2 more than the 50th Anniversary M27-3. Just my opinion.
