It looks like S&W is clearing out all of their Uncle Mike's Grips, including the K/L Rd & Rd to Sq Conversion Grips.
I ordered "some" of the K/L Grips last week and received an email that S&W had shipped something, but I'm not sure how many were shipped or if both types were still in stock.

As a follow-up, today I received all of the K/L grips I ordered, so, as of last week at least, they were still in stock.

Sorry for the stupid question, but do these cover the exposed portion of the frame on a j frame? Thinking of buying them to help tame my wife's 642 for her.

If you are referring to the backstrap, no they do not. S&W stopped selling that version some time ago. The J-frame version currently on close-out is the bootgrip version which leaves the backstrap exposed.
Smith and Wesson does sell on their Web site a version similar to what you are looking for. Pachmyer (sp?) also sells a version that covers the backstrap.

They will, if only because I stocked up on them before they were discontinued.

I personally like the older Diamond Grips with a Tyler T installed, BUT if you prefer rubber, Uncle Mikes is the way to go - much better than Pacy's IMHO.

Are these Uncle Mike's different from what comes on the 642?
If yes, do these Uncle Mike's work with the HKS speedloaders.

I have to admit I don't really like the look of UM's boot grip on a blued snubby, but they sure make a huge difference in the shootin'.

Yes, the Uncle Mike's boot grip is the original (it's actually based off the Craig Spegel design) and works fine with speedloaders. The later S&W-logo'd factory grip looks similar but can be problematic with some speedloaders.
