Default If I sell my 629, what is a realistic price for it?

I have a 629-4 6.5" with PowerPort. I believe it to be in very good condition. I'd guestimate around a 90% or better condition. This is 'pre-lock'.

I am in California, which means locals can't buy this from out of state and have it shipped in. It isn't on 'the list'. I can legally sell it, but it can only be shipped to someone out of the state.

Anyway, I am thinking of selling it as I bought it [used] in 2005 and have put less than 200 rounds through it. I don't know round count before I purchased it.

Any ideas of what is a realistic price? Thanks.

I did a search on '629-4' and got nothing, btw.

I'd just keep it, even if it isn't being shot very often. That doesn't hurt a thing.

PowerPorts were never a hot item, thus their discontinuation. But I've seen them sell on auction sites like GunBroker, which are pretty good indicators of what the market will bear, for between $600 and $700. However I must say that I haven't followed them for a year or more and all S&Ws have experienced value increases. Your -4 is probably the most appealing to those who don't have a preference for square-butt S&Ws.

Not an expert, but I think the 629-4 is very desirable to most but the port isn't.

650. to 700 range would be fair and sell quick, If you have to sell..

personally, I have the same gun, -4 with "power-port" and it's one of the most pleasant .44 that I have to shoot...

And no they weren't popular when they first came out. however, S&W has been revisiting the power port concept with some of the PC guns. Because as ugly as it is,it works.

You can put it on consignment or sell it outright to a dealer here in CA. Expect about 1/2 value from any dealer. You can sell it to an individual within CA, but need to transfer through a ffl holder or dealer.
