Default Cylinder release question, sticking cylinder

I recently purchased a police tradein model 64. Nice little Smith. Passes all the tests, took the side plate off, everything looks good inside, groups very well, but... sometimes when I push the cylinder release, the cylinder sticks. If I push it again or cock and release the trigger, it opens. Any suggestions? Thanks

The ejector rod is a tad loose. Just tighten it -- it's threaded to tighten by turning left.

Or it's just a tad long. If your ejector rod is tight do the following. Press the release and open the cylinder to the point where it just clears the front lock. Then put on some readers and see if the center pin is just slightly recessed. If so, a couple of passes with a stone will dust it down so that the center pin stands a touch "proud" of the ejector rod when you press the cylinder release.

BTW, sometimes the end of the ejector rod is stoned on a slight angle from the factory, when that is the case it will cause a "sticky" opening on some cylinder positions. This was the case with my 610-3 when new, after stoning down the high spot it releases perfectly.

I have a 637 that has the problem sticking on 3 cylinders. The gun was recently sent back for a different problem and they replaced the whole cylinder. When I got it back I noticed it sticking on 3 of the cylinders. If I send it back for this, it will be the third time this gun has been sent back for different problems. Im pretty dissapointed in Smith&Wesson at this point.
