thanks ive waited for 4 weeks because marylands new fbi law is to hold used guns for 30 days no matter what.i cant stop fingering it and telling everybody about it .ive never had a stainless gun and belive it or not i went to buy some ammo and instead i saw this gun calling my name it is a 686-3 ss 6" 357 and i paid 450 for it and it is a no lock . i called s&w its never been back to factory and it left the plant in may of 1990 and it is in very very good condition. i cant wait to shoot it. probably this weekend. s&w is sending me a owners manual for free and i bought 4 speedloaders.

yes i wanted to get a nice 357 and i am really impressed with the way it looks and feels now its time to put some lead through it and the trigger is a hair trigger do they usually have a light trigger on the 686 maybe someone did a trigger job

Very nice handgun, I own a 2 1/2" and a 4" no 6" yet.
I don't know what you consider a hair trigger but in single action mine do have a light pulls.
Hope it serves you well,,,,,,Enjoy..........

Just bought 686-3 with a 2 inch barrel today and I know how you feel. I had a 6 inch 686 I picked up back in the early 90's and regreted selling it. So for me it's like getting an old friend back.

I also lack a 6" but since I don't hunt it may be one
that I'll only add if that "special deal" comes along.

Jeremy, the M686 is the Stainless version of the blued M586.
The general rule of thumb is that if a model number has a 6 at the beggining, it denotes Stainless Steel.

You will love it's accuarcy. Try some amercian eagle fmj .38's. My 686 really enjoys this stuff and it's cheaper than the .357's.
Btw, Great Price! That is almost a stolen price here in NH.
Congrats!!

I hope you get many years of enjoyment out of your 686. I have had mine for about 15 years and really like mine. I have shot bulls eye with mine and it is an absolute tack driver!
I just changed out my front sight and dropped in a Wolfe spring kit and it is perfect.
Enjoy.

Congrats on a beautiful gun.
But be careful they are habit forming. And you got a great deal on it. Enjoy! PS great looking wood also.

Nice pre-ILS 6" 686. SWEET. No wonder your happy. Mine is a new 686+ 7 shot 4". If I could have found the pre-ILS in decent shape for less than $600 I'd have bought it.
