What is your favorite Smith pocket revolver
This is a picture of mine ,a S&W 642 with a Uncle Mikes pocket holster
This is my hot weather and Sunday carry....combo.the little 642 is stoked with a staggered load of solid base lead wadcutters & HBLWC loaded backwards....a little old school but there performance are boringly predicable

I carry the exact same combo, except I use Hornaday 125gr XTP's. I may replace the Uncle Mike's in the future; I've got a Walther PPK that I keep in a Blackhawk! pocket holster that's made in the USA, where the Uncle Mike's is made in Vietnam, for God's sake.

My 442 is a great pocket gun stoked with 135gr +P Gold Dots. My favorite however is my 340sc with 125gr .357 Remington Medium Velocity or Golden Sabre equivalents. It's nice to carry a gun that is lighter than most pocket 9mm's .380's .32's and .22's knowing you have the power to truely stop a bad situation. It's very comfortable and comforting. Tough to beat for me.

Has to be my 442. Can't think of a revolver better suited to pocket duty:

If I am not attending, or suspect a planned gun-fight....my 317. If I suspect there may be the possibility of a gun-fight....the 640 or 638.

pocket s&w
I agree that the j frame s&w is the perfect pocket revolver. Mine is a 642 with hogue boot grips. Ammo is federal 125 grain.

For me, it's either the M642 or M638, with the 638 my favorite.
They are usually carried using one of the two methods shown below.
My nightime pocket gun is usually my M36-2

I carry a pre lock 342 Ti with some older rescued grips. Slides in and out of the pocket smoothly.

Right now my 642 No Lock. My 43C will likely be a close second once S&W fixes it and returns it to me.

I will. It was kind of a mess out of the box. Bad spitting, a hitch in the DA trigger on a couple chambers, scratches on the cylinder face, large BC gap, etc. I suspect they will fit a new cylinder and call it a day.
I love the model though and can't wait to get it back.

642-2 is my EDC. Loaded with Federal Personal Defense, 129gr Hydro Shok ammo I think it'd work as well as anything else for a deadly encounter. I would like to get something with more rounds for Home Defense though. When it's just you in your underware with a gun and a flashlight it's kind of comforting to have more then 5 rounds for those "bump in the night" situations.
Got a line on a S&W 4586 that's in my price range, that'd give me 8+1 rounds of 45acp, may go with that or the Sig Pro 2340 that I've found.

Perfection....I had one with the sideplate zit, got rid of it. Looked for a no-lock for awhile, no success, so I gave up....for now.

I really like my new 43C. It is perfect and I have no function problems at all as it came from the factory. I try to make a point to keep it with me at all times as a second gun. Actually, it's so light that lately I use it for necklace carry. I guess that means that my 940 is still my pocket gun of choice.

LOVE THE HUMP
IMHO, the 649-3 is as near a perfect pocket carry gun as has ever been made. Unfortunately I couldn't find one, and had to settle for a 649-5 - same gun, with an ILS. Despite the ILS I carry it anyway, and I practice with it religiously. I don't know if it makes a difference if you've never operated the ILS, but I've never touched it (hoping that will make mine reliable).
With bantam grips in a pocket holster you are good to go for stout .38sp p+, and with a set of combat grips (like my altamonts) you can easily handle .357 defense loads, though you'll need a deeper pocket or a belted holster. I can shoot a 3" group strong arm with .357 standing at 15 yards in double action, and even better with SA. I love how the hump keeps the hammer from snagging, yet it's easy to operate. A PERFECT SOLUTION. And the weight pays for itself in manageability (within an ounce or two of the ruger SP101)
I have had (and still do have) numerous guns, but every one of them spent/spends more time in the safe than actually being conceal carried. But since getting the 649, when I leave my home, I am ALWAYS armed. I carry it everywhere, and have even driven for hours with it without it bothering me - in either a galco pocket holder, with hogue bantam grips, or lately in the (amazing) galco V-Hawk which is a Milt Sparks VM clone.
Sure, there are other guns I'd rather carry, no question. I wish I could easily tuck away my 686-4 plus 6" - I am sure somebody out there does - and if there was a gunfight, it'd be the one I'd bring to win. That or my Colt combat commander with a bunch of wilson magazines - a real blast at the range. But I just don't/can't carry them realistically every day, especially in AZ where most days are shorts and T-shirts. But there is NO dress situation where I can't carry the 649, and it leaves nothing to desire in firepower.
In short, I'm sold! Okay, I am done gushing about my beloved pocket gun! LOL. But I am sure glad you asked!!!!!
This lengthy reply deserves photos, so I am grabbing a couple real quick....

My current EDC was a 442 until I picked up an M&P 340. On those very rare occassions when deep concealment is necessary I carry a Ruger LCP.

I second what MikeChandler said, my favorite pocket carry revolver is my 649-3 (if I'm carrying .357 magnums and weight is not a problem for what I am wearing). If weight is a problem and/or I am carrying .38 special +p, I carry this 638. I either case, the guns have CT laser grips.

Model 940-1
I carry a Model 940-1, outfitted with Pachmayr "Gripper" grips and loaded with either Eldorado Starfire Classic 124 grain or Remington Ultimate Home Defense 124 grain cartridges. Has an acrylic front sight from Woodland Iron of West Bend, WI. Sets in a "Barefoot" belt holster. Very comfortable, form fitting combination.
Also have a 940 no dash, allegedly unfired, in the box with documents and sealed accessory cleaning kit and wooden dowl waiting.

Another 49/649 Fan...Just like me! And by the way, it is perfect! I have my 49 with me all the time. My other carry is my Colt LW Commander. My next J-frame is going to be a 649.

My early 80s-vintage 49. I'm waiting for my CCW permit, Tyler T-grip, and Mika holster to arrive in the mail. I've got it loaded with Remington/UMC 125gr. SJHP +P ammo for now, but will likely get some different ammo from Buffalo Bore in the near future.

Why not the Baby Chief?
I haven't seen anyone talk about the nicest little package SW ever put out. I have been using this as a very concealable pocket carry. It's a backup to my 2.5" Model 19-4 I love this little "Baby Chief Special" It's a pre model 36 from early 1953. It is accurate in both DA and SA. What's not to like about it?
