Default New to me 36-2 DAO

Good evening all. I just picked up a model 36-2 from my FFL. It has a factory bobbed hammer with a matte black finish(which I really, really like.) I'm really liking this 36 so far.

Can someone shed some light on this particular model for me? The box has a product code of 101520 with a special order number of 9114. Were these a limited run by S&W? Does anyone know what finish it has? Like I stated above, it has a matte black finish as opposed to the typical blue. Also, it's factor DAO but I can cock the trigger into SA

Try doing a forum search of 36-2 DAO- you'll get several posts from the past on exactly what you've got there.
As an aside, I recently picked up a mint 60 no dash and installed a bobbed hammer, converting the gun to DAO. It mimics the NYPD NY-1 Modl 60...

I did just as you said and nothing came up when I types "36-2 DAO." I tried a few more key words and no results showed up. If you happen to know where these threads are please let me know, I would love to read some info on this particular 36-2.
Thanks

They look almost identical. I think BigBoku had a 3 inch at one time.

You got yourself a nice piece, and not one seen often.

Your 37-2 is a nice one as well! I've been looking for one of those for awhile now. They seem to be getting very scarce.

Was the Model 36-2 new or used?

I've seen several of these pop up for sale recently. I was wondering if maybe Smith & Wesson released a batch of contract overruns.

I purchased it used from an online dealer. I ended up negotiating with the seller over the phone and we agreed upon a set price, which was less than his original asking price. I was happy when it was all said and done. The condition of the 36 was way better than I had imagined, which made the experience all the better.
If I come across another one chances are I will pick it up as well. I really like DAO j-frames and this was my first bobbed hammer variant.

I've enjoyed following this thread and looking at your pictures. I have a soft spot in my heart for model 36 S&W revolvers.
