model 317 adjustable sight
can the rear adjustable sight be removed, on a model 317 with 3 inch barrel, making the revolver a more snag free CCW?

The 317 is a J frame with the J frame adjustable sight. It removes with one screw. I changed mine out for a square notch rear because I couldn't stand the V rear. What do you plan to do about sights if you remove the rear?

I guess I am just a sights cripple. I need the sights to hit anything.

Personally, I think you should reconsider a .22LR as a for personal defense option.
