Default Do Centennial models generally have a better trigger pull than the hammered models?

I’ve read some members speculate that the Centennial models generally have a better double-action trigger pull than their counterpart hammered models (e.g. a 642 vs a 637).

It seems a common opinion that the new 43c has a better double-action trigger pull than the 317.

So do the Centennial models generally have a better double-action trigger pull then hammered models? Thoughts/opinions?

Thanks.

In my experience, no they don't. If there is any difference it is very small.

I have never heard that. I have both a Model 60 and a 640 made within months of each other -- so they should make for a good comparison. All I can say is the actions sound different but feel the same when I close my eyes. With my eyes open, the 640 looks smoother, I think, because there is no hammer moving in my field of vision as I pull the trigger.

Well....I can compare several SA/DA J-Frame revolvers with a model 640 and I DO detect a difference. Not so much lighter pull as more travel on the trigger. I remember when I first acquired the 640, I posted concerning the trigger-pull and never got any answer. The first time I shot it....I thought I never would get the trigger completely pulled. I have learned to stage it very well. In rapid-fire....don't notice it so much, but with aimed shots my 640 does definitely have a longer stroke. Nothing ridiculous...just noticeable. I had it apart to check it out and clean it when I first brought it home and nothing seems amiss.

My 640 seems smoother to me than my hammer guns that have had no internal work done. Only my transitional HD is smoother. Maybe it's just me.

Don't think I can tell any difference. If a concealed hammer gun has been cycled more than a regular one I bet the trigger would feel smoother, or vice versa. Also, I don't know if this is peculiar to K frames, but I handled an unmodified 65 LS that had a great DA pull, much nicer than a standard K frame - perhaps the J frame Ladysmith owners can comment.

IMHO, yes, on average Centennial's do have a slightly better DA trigger pull. I believe it's because they don't have a hammer-block (unnecessary on an internal hammer gun), & the additional friction associated with it. And Murphydog, I'm fairly sure Ladysmith's are sprung a little lighter.
