Default Need help on a Virginia Sheriffs Association 19-5

A friend of mine wants me to sell his Commemorative Virginia Sheriffs Association Model 19 revolver. I believe it is a 19-5. It is a 50th anniversary commemorative.

Can't find any info about it or what the value might be on it. It appears to be 1 of 110 produced. It is in mint condition in the box with certificate. The only minus is light timing marks where someone probably rotated the cylinder. I highly doubt it has ever been shot. Thanks for any help as far as what this is or any value ideas!

Welcome to the forum DrK.

Very nice 19 commemorative. I picked up a 19-5 West Virginia Conservation Officers commemorative, 1 of 133, a couple of weeks ago. LNIB, in the wooden presentation box. Unfired since the factory. I fixed that.

The dealer had $700 on it. I traded him a 686-4+ snub for it - even. I was in the snub right and had confirmed I have no use for L-frame snubs.

So, locally that 19-5 commemorative would probably bring $650 to $700. Hope this helps! Regards 18DAI

Very nice gun in great condition, and a nice box. I assume the engraving on the gun matches that of the box. I like the Association's incorporation of the Virginia seal in the logo. Sic semper tyrannis!

18DAI, any chance you could upload some pictures of the WV 19-5? I'd love to see that.

There were 110 produced in 1983. The S and W Model 19 comemerates the 50th anniversary of the Association. I have number 109 and it was appraised at $1,300.00 back in the mid 80's.

Who were these guns issued to originally? Could anyone buy them?

They were not issued.
They were available to members of the association and also had a belt buckle numbered to the gun. I have had number 105 of the 110 produced since they were offered and just couldn't bring myself to fire it.
