Default New 586-L Performance Center

Anybody have one? Worth the high price? Thanks in advance.

Same question on the new Model 27 PC, how does it compare to the original?

I picked up a 12 year old pre-lock last month. I've never cared about a comped gun but I really like this. It's a good size for carry and it is a shooter. The action is great. I'm not sure what new ones go for but I was able to do some "creative trading" so I think I did all right. Shooting it is so much fun I will never let this spend a lot of time in the safe. Good Luck.
Mike

Thanks Mike, even the pre-locks I've seen are $1200-$1300. Sounds like it's worth it then.

I LOVE Performance Center revolvers. I think they are worth every penny asked for. I probably have 20 of them right now.

You question is fairly vague. I pesume that you are asking about the 586 L-Comp, product code 170170 since that is the only 586 revovler that the PC is currently offering. This has been a Distributor Exclusive from Camfour for many years now.

I have had mine for quite a while now and really like it. It is easy to carry, very accurate, and fast on follow up shots. You would have to offer me HUGE money to get me to sell mine.

As to the carbon steel Model 27, there is no current offering from the Performance Center. The last one the PC produced was back in 2007.

There are presently 5 model 27s being offered on the production side of Smith and Wesson. There is a 4" and a 6 1/2" each being offered in blue or nickle. The fifth variation is the 75th anniversary model 27 which is an engraved blue 6 1/2" 27.

Now from 2000 through 2007 the Performance Center did manufacture 6 variations of the model 27 but all in low numbers. Here is one of each pictured below.

The 3 1/2" and the 5" can still be found at some dealers. 350 of each were made in blue and 250 of each in nickle. The 4" and the 6" you can pretty much forget about, only 100 of each were produced.

If you are willing to go stainless, there is the model 627, including some blackened versions.

Thats what all the idiots on gun broker are asking and none have sold. I been wanting one for a while, but will not pay more than 750 for one, do not think they are worth any more than that and if you had to sell it down the road you would get hurt buying one for a grand or more.

Thanks for the thoughts Eric. You are right, the prices on GB really have shot up in the last 6 months.

I have seen a couple on GB for $1400-$1800. Of course no one bought them. I think a lot of those guys are fishing..something might bite.

Keep your eyes open, unless you're dead set on a pre-lock 586 L-Comp there are deals to be had. I bought mine (with the IL) from a forum member a couple of years ago and, as colt_saa said, it's a great shooting, great carrying revolver.

Yep, you get a lot of those high dealer idiots on there that probably work together and set all their prices around 1,500 so they can surround the market with that price, and then one will put a 1,100 priced one on there and some guy will come along and buy it thinking he is getting a good deal.
