Default Gun show great time.

Went to the St. Charles gun show yesterday, 500 tables. I went specifically looking for a 44 Special. I found a fellow selling all his guns to buy a boat. In one box was a 6.5" M-24, covered in probably WD-40 years ago and sit collecting dust since. I bought it very right. I've wanted one for a long time, I was excited. I went back today just to look around and ended up trading for my 2nd 629, a 4" and an American made 1911.

The down side was finding and paying for the 44 Special ammo, gonna have to get some dies and reload.

Congrats on the great find! You just have been there before I was. All I could find was dozens of dealer tables hawking Taurus .38's for $499. If you ever get tired of the 4" 629 let me know.

Yes, for sure get into reloading. The .44 Special is a great caliber and easy to reload--lots of choices available.

Thanks for the positive notes. I've been reloading since the late 60's. I now need to get 44 Special dies unless my 44 MAg dies will work???? I'll get pics soon. The 24 came out of the dried WD40 looking very sharp. I used micro fiber cloth on the 24 and the 629. They are looking good. I've looked for a 24 for a long time. And here it is. I'm just tickeled S&W Blue.

And for sixgunsam, I saw all the over priced stuff too, not many bargains but I had 2 guns that 2 dealers have wanted for a while. I had them long enought that I really came out a head.

Your 44 Mag dies will work fine. Adjust the case mouth flare, bullet seat and crimp dies a little bit lower. The only difference is case length. All the adjustments have to do with a shorter case. If you still load 44 Mag as well, you may want another set of dies anyway to keep from having to change them up and down a lot.
