Picked up two in the last two weeks. 632 Pro is a pure joy to shoot w/ 32H&R Mag ammo. Also got a 15-9 Ed McGivern w/ case color frame. Absolutely gorgeous gun! Shot 200 rds thru it yesterday. Fantastic gun. Stacks bullets, great trigger & love the gold bead front sight. Think I'll be replacing the black ramp on the 632 w/ a gold bead in near future.

Default Guns

I added a Governor to my Smitty Collection of a 642 and the M&P 45. The Guv was a great buy, shoots with very low recoil and eats my reloads like candy. Extremely Accurate especially using .45ACP. Great Guns!!.

Last new Smith I purchased was a 640Pro. Factory adjustable night sights, no lock, slicked up trigger by PC, and 357 w or wo moon clips.

Great balance and dead on with heavier bullets. In 1970 I became a sworn Peace Officer and always wanted a J frame that shot to point of aim and you could use 38+p or greater loads. I retired from LE in 2006 and after trying numerous Js none ever completely filled the bill.

In 2011 I purchased the 640 Pro as another retirement present. This gun has it all and does it all. POI/POA the same. Night sights and great action without "the Lock"

One of my favorites to carry and to shoot. Even sent a letter to Smith telling them how much I like this 640. Never did that with any other Smith.

does anyone remember what it felt like when we were kids, on the way home on that warm summer day knowing that we had the whole summer ahead to play in the woods and fields.. baseball at the park, hide and seek at night, catchiing lightning bugs and nightcrawlers.... that's how I feel about my guns now!!
Turbo,
You can't get better than that.I do remember that feeling!

22-4,21-4 and 625. All have been excellent guns finish, accuracy and handling. I would not hesitate to buy any new revolver if I had the funds and the desire for it.

I was shooting my 19 and thought, 357 would be a great carry round, so I bought a new 60. Gun locks up tight, fit and build quality are fine. Very pleased with the gun and it compares favorably with my older Smiths. Also picked up some not so new 64's, love 64's, and I am very pleased with them also.Close to 20 years old ( police-tradeins) and going very strong. Smith builds a good product.

Bought another Model 500 a while back and like the others I've had, it was a very nice gun, zero end shake and close B/C gap, fine trigger, very accurate.

I strongly believe that if you feel you have the right to criticize you have an obligation to compliment when things are done very well, but most people don't do that, certainly not the internet complainers.

I called S&W customer service after getting this last gun and told them that I really liked the gun. The woman said "you mean you called just to thank us?" I said yes, she said "you made my day!" Don

Haven't bought any new recently, but within the last 8 years, bought a Model 66 (last of the series) a 625 and a model 60.
All were excellent handguns. Only complaint is the rubber grips.

most recent purchase is my favorite: 2008 642-1 no-lock. hogue bantams in a mika.

several pre-lock no-dash vintage j-frames; 49 pre-lock no-dash no-mim tyler + stock wood, 637 pre-lock no-dash no-mim stock s&w bantam, 342 airlite titanium pre-lock no-dash hogue bantam.

only the 642 and 342 get carried.

I thought this was a praise of new IL, MIM 2-peice barrel S&Ws. Maybe some have missed the OPs request here?

Sadly, S&W dropped it from the list last year, but in early 2011 I bought a 619. I had always wanted a M65, and this seemed like the L-frame version of it, and I was right. It is an outstanding revolver, my first IL, MIM, 2-peice barrel. After I bought it, I looked at all the negative comments about these modern revolvers and I'm still puzzled by it all. This is one of, if not the best, most accurate, well balanced, smoothest actioned (to include DA) revolvers I have ever owned. If S&W made a non IL/MIM/2-Piece barreled version of it, I'd still keep this one. Maybe I just got a special one, I don't know. I just know it makes me laugh at the detractors of the new S&Ws. It eats up full house .357 loads easily and accurately. Too bad S&W dropped this and the 620 from the lineup, but glad I got one when I did.

Actually, I just wanted to hear from fellow S&W lovers who are pleased with their new, or recent, purchases. I didn't restrict it in any way. In fact, my OP included my example of my 632 Pro - made last August and bought in September - and without the lock. It's great to see so many contented customers - I was thinking my experience was an anomaly! Thanks for the stories!!

I've been buying S&Ws the past couple of years. For some reason I became obsessed with them after my Dad passed away in February of 2010.

My first purchase was a 25-13 Classic .45 Colt, Nickel, 6.5" barrel. I had been interested in the .45 colt and owned a Taurus six gun, Ruger blackhawk and Rossi 20" 1892 rifle. After buying the gun I started reading about all the new junk and how awful new S&Ws were. I like to tinker. I put a new Wolff spring kit in my 25. The chamber throats are in spec. I routinely hit what I'm shooting at at 50 yards offhand. I own a Les Baer PII with the 1.5" guarantee and an Ed Brown Executive Target. I shoot the 25 as well. My lock has never engaged.

I've bought a new 4" 617. Wolff kit really helped the DA trigger. I put a Burris Fastfire red dot on it. Amazing gun.

I bought a 625 JM used. For some reason I'm not shooting it as well as I'd like.

Used 620 that I've left alone. Very nice, accurate and reliable. I shoot mostly .38 Specials at the range.

I've put Ahrends retro combat grips on these. They shoot often. The 617 goes to the range every trip. I was shooting clay birds off the hill at the back of the bay with it yesterday at 30-40 yards. I don't hit with every shot, but I bust up all the big pieces.

Used 638 with the CT laser grips. Pocket gun, very accurate. No fun to shoot at the range.

I also like the older guns. From a value for dollars there are good buys. I have bought a few older guns in the last couple years as well. My most recent purchase is a K38 Masterpiece from 1948. Shot 100 rounds through it after picking it up at the club yesterday.

My most recent new S&W revolver purchase was a 617 4". I read all the complaints here from the IL detractors and the MIM parts whiners, and the various QC problems experienced by some with recent S&W guns. Well, I'm happy to report mine's been perfect in every way....functions great, outstanding accuracy and no complaints whatsoever about the fit and finish. I don't even notice the little hole any longer.

Just got a 64-8 and I love it.

I put Pachmayr Presentation smalls on it, and the gun is perfect. It was on old Corrections duty gun and it's a tackdriver, and the DA pull is smooth and even all the way through.

My last two S&Ws were a 625PC and the 629UDR/PC. The 625 needed a trip back to Smith for a new firing pin and bushing, it failed to fire about half of the time. The 629 has been perfect from the get-go. The 625 is too, once it came back from the shop. Both are great guns and I've shot them a lot.

Got a new 686 4" in Feb. A lot of fun to shoot. Use mostly 38's at the range but I always fire some 357 rounds for fun. Its like a small cannon in your hand with those.

Default Good Thread

Picked up over the last year two 627UDR,657UDR and a 629UDR. Just got off the phone with CS and their going to try to make for me my favorite a 625UDR with a 625-10 barrel. I just got back a 586. I'll post that on a new postive thread about S&W CS.

You people just own too many guns!

My wife has arthritis, can't handle much recoil, and can't rack the slide on a semi-auto.

Recently got her a 351C, .22 magnum with C.T. laser grips. Trigger was a bit stiff (rimfire, you know); replaced spring; works like a charm; eats everything you feed it; no FTF.

Fixed sights hit point of aim, and the bullet hits the little red dot at 7 yd. No complaints...

Don't see much difference in point-of-impact, regardless of load.

Pleased with the little gun. It's all my wife can handle, and she's happy. "And if Mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy".

M&P22, 642NL,637,317 which are great. And a Model 60 that would have been great if it didn't have one cosmetic issue. So it's not great, but very very good.

I love my S&W 15-22 and have not had any problems other than keeping enough .22rimfire rounds to feed the little devil. Also bought a 629-6 a few months ago and so far I can find no fault with it but then I only have a few rounds down the barrel.

The 638 has been swapped with a 642 but these are all from the past 12 months. Love them and they have all performed perfectly. The 638 went back to Smith for a issue and was fixed in a timely manner and returned. I moved it for the 642 as I just like the 42 better. Smith has always answered my questions fully and respected my requests for both repairs and information.
I have no problem with the MIM parts or the lock. For me, if the lock saves on person/child then it is a small price for me to live with. If it ever bothers me enough I can simply remove it, I am competent with a flat ground screwdriver.
Be safe, Frank.

Yup, sorry, I was reading between the lines. End of the story, I love my "new" (okay, a year old) 619:

But I have to mention my "new" 547 since it's NIB. The paperwork finally cleared (only took about four weeks this time) and I can finally pick it up next week. How a NIB 547 got here in Germany, I don't know, but I snatched it up as soon as I saw it, and all things considered, at a decent price:

Picked up this 642-1 a couple of months ago and it has been flawless. It travels with me comfortably daily.

I picked up 3 new S&Ws over the last year, a couple of older ones and this Friday I'm picking up another M&P15-22 MOE FDE.
1. Model 632
2. Model 43c
3. M&P22
I'm very happy with all of them with the 632 being the coolest of the bunch, especially after adding Model 60 Pro grips, a red insert for the front sight followed by a set of Wolff springs.
The 43c is a super lightweight revolver that has such a nice action it doesn't need Wolff springs. Surprisingly accurate with 40 grn solids.
The M&P22 is a great fun gun and though made by Walther it meets S&Ws standards and is flawlessly reliable and a good training aid.
The older revolver I lucked into was a very nice Model 67-3, I've always liked the Combat Masterpiece and this is my favorite version.
So it's been a good year for S&Ws with more to come.

Over that past few years I've purchased: a couple of M&P autos, 22-4, 21-4, 627 Pro, 58-1, 625-11, 629-?, and a Ported PC 629. Love them all, and the quality is as good or better than some of the older ones I own, or have owned or handled. Of those, I've had two modern revolvers with issues that had to be sent back to S&W. They took care of them without delay or complaint. It seems to be fashionable to bash S&W for not remaining "true to it's history", using modern materials and production processes, or sending out a gun that isn't "perfect" in every detail. For something as intircate as a modern revolver, made by humans, I expect minor flaws to appear every once in a while. As long as they stand behind their product like they do, I won't complain......

Default I miss read the thread

I thought this was a "New to Me" thread not a "New Gun" thread. My mistake... But in response to the previous post...
The SW 500 and M&P .45 were sold or traded but..... not because they were new

These are my only 2 revolvers. The top is a 22-4 and the bottom is a 629PC. I have had the 629 for about 3 months and just bought the 22-4 this weekend. The 44mag shoots great, and haven't had any problems out of it. The 22-4 for me was not shootable with the stock grips. I kept gripping the upper part of the trigger with my finger and the holes were all over the place. I put the Hogue grips on it for now so I can shoot again this week.
I really like the idea of the 45acp as I am a 1911 guy. To be honest these will probably be my only 2 revolvers.

Default 2 Smith & Wessons in the last year

I bought a 6 inch 686 in March 2011. Have about 11,000 rounds thru it, no problems yet. Bought a 6 inch 617 in January 2012 thinking I would save money with a 22. Only have 3,000 rounds thru the 617 but the 686 is still more fun to shoot. The trigger on the 686 is just so sweet.

60-15 Pro Series, 3" barrel, bought in late February. Fantastic. Can't be beat for all around use. 100% on fit and finish. I like it!

I'm anxious to see what is coming out in mid April. If nothing exciting I think I'll get my first .45 a MP 45c next.
I have 6 revolvers and two semi-auto Smiths.

Well, in the last two months I purchased a M7P9Fs and a M&P22. I can't say enough about either of them. The 9 has had no problems and is an absolute joy to shoot. The .22, well, it is a little picky still on ammo. The CCI Mini Mags and Velocitor stuff got through it fine, as does Remington Thunder Bolt. The Winchester Wild Cat is great too. But my favorite cheap stuff, the Federal 550 bulk copper plated just has issues in feeding. This may work itself out as the gun breaks in, although I have approx. 1k through it now. But I again absolutely love this little gun. What a pair to have. I think these are going to be in the stable for a long long time.
Here is my small Smith family.

Just received my new 5" 460V a couple weeks ago after searching for 5 months. The collection continues to grow.
