Holster question
I was going through a box of my my dad's things after he died and I found a holster. There is a Don Hume Maker and a Jordan Holster Trademark stamped on the back. Also H216 No. 1 4" is stamped at the top on the back. Does anyone know what gun or guns this holster wil fit??

I don't have a Hume chart handy but odds are it fits a 4" K-frame.

I have the same holster. Mine is plain black leather and was the duty holster of a US Border Patrol agent before he passed it along to me. I was extremely impressed by the quality of the Don Hume leather goods.
The holster, while in BP service, carried an issued Ruger Security Six. I re-blocked it (soaking and then letting it dry with the pistol inside to get it to conform to the new profile) to carry a 4” Model 19. If you want to re-block your holster PM me for directions.
Enjoy a very fine holster.

That's the holster design of the famous Border Patrolman, gun writer, and exibition shooter Bill Jordan. Bill carried a Combat Magnum (later known as a Model 19) in his while on duty but often carried a heavy barrel Model 10 for trick shooting.

The Bill Jordan holster
Mr. Jordan was the man. The Don Hume holster has his name and picture stamped on the back. Every other holster manufacturer made a similar holster although I don’t think they were as well executed as the Don Hume sample. Most were called just “the Jordan Holster” or “the Border Patrol” holster.
I wonder if it killed Skeeter to wear a holster with Jordan’s name on it? They were a real pair to draw to, literally.

Gruntdeputy-Thanks for the reply. I have a 4" Dan Wesson 357. I believe it will fit into the Holster if I could reshape it just a little. I believe this is what you were referring to when you used the term re-blocking. I am interested in getting your input on this procedure. Thanks, Louis

Bill Jordan being mentioned, brings back a very pleasant memory as I got to meet him at a sportsman conference years ago. He was and still is a legend, and I recall Mr. Jordan speaking in support of the Model 58 (41 mag.) as the ultimated police weapon. He and Elmer Keith were the spokesmen in 1964 for the 41 mag. however, the model 58 never really made it to S&W's top sales list.
I have his autograph in his book, "No second place winner" and it had a impact on my 30+ yrs. as a LEO.
