Default Show me your 686 Carry setup!!!

Looking to buy a 686+ 3" for daily carry and I'd like to see some quality/comfortable carry setups. I figure with the 3" barrel, I shouldnt have an issue with OWB carry so I'd be OK with OWB or IWB.

Lets see what you got!

The 3" gun will probably carry top heavy in many designs. Choose carefully. Riding too high could be a disadvantage.

Lately I have always wound up ordering from CME Holsters, whether cowboy or modern revolver. They are making another holster for me now. D.M. Bullard is another good one with a design for that carry mode.

My sweetie (4 in though ), rides in a Fobus paddle. Was a tight fit for a while, but loosened up quite nicely. Don't have to yank any more. Still snug as a bug in a rug.. I agree with the top heavy with the 3 inch in a high ride...

Lately I have been carrying my 686PC in a Simply Rugged OWB Pancake Holster. Which I am doing today and just took this pic for you. I live in Florida and I just wear a short sleeve button up shirt over my tank top which covers it up perfectly!

This holster just came to me a couple of weeks ago for free with a 386PD I bought on Gunbroker and I love it. It rides nice and tight to my waist and side. Not top heavy, the gun is positioned just perfectly. It also has a second slot if you want to set it up for crossdraw carry, which I have never done. I think this is pretty much the perfect OWB rig for the 2.5" 686. It probably is great for longer barreled models as well, just don't have one

My main carry rig, however, is a Tucker Gun Leather IWB Texas Heritage and Tucker Gun Leather Carry Belt. Pictured with my 386 Night Guard, but carries my 686PC 2.5" as well. My 386NG, 386NG and my 686PC guns are exactly the same dimensions with 2.5" barrels.

I have tried many IWB rigs and this is hands down my favorite!

For my full review of this holster go here on this forum: Praise For Tucker Gun Leather

I use a Lobo Gunleather pancake holster for my 4" 686 no dash. It conceals easily.

Personally, I think it's too heavy, so I generally don't carry it unless I'm hunting...

I have no pictures but I can tell you that an El Paso Saddlery shoulder rig will work if you like that concept. Gould & Goodrich used to make a belt holster that worked well but I think it's discontinued.

Hmmmmm.....I have those holsters but I haven't carried this gun for such a long time I am having trouble remembering the holsters that I have at home for it.

I never would have thought I would carry a 686 because it is so huge. All I ever carried was J Frames. But since I got the proper equipment I have carried nothing but L Frames for the last 2 months. It is amazing what a proper carry belt and holster will allow you to do.

I have been carrying my 686PC 2.5" for the last 3 days and nights straight. In all honesty it is barely noticeable with my Tucker carry belt and either the Tucker IWB Texas Heritage or a Simply Rugged Pancake OWB holster.

I have 3 L frames that are the same dimensions but very different weights that all fit in the same holster. My 386PD weighs 21.6 ozs loaded, my 686PC weighs 38ozs loaded! If I drop either gun in my rig, I honestly barely notice the difference. And I'm not a huge guy, tall and lean but not huge.

I also wear nothing but shorts, flip-flops a button up short sleeve shirt over a tank top all year round (Florida). I never thought carrying a big and heavy revolver would be possible for me, but it totally is. I even wore a regular T Shirt yesterday with the OWB holster and it did not show at all. It is amazing what the right gear will allow you to do. I really think it is all about having a proper and dedicated carry belt. They don't sell those at macy's by the way

Grips are Ahrends, the speed loaders are 5 Star Tactical (silver ones) and HKS. Don't know about the rest.
