ammo recommendations for 44 magnum
i have purchased the s&w 44 magnum PF short barrel 44 magnum revolver. are there any "light" 44 magnum rounds that i might try in this short barrel gun to minimize recoil. i know that i can use 44 spl ammo, however, recommendations for a short nose 44 magnum load would be appreciated. thanks.

Gold Dot SB(Short Barrel)--great loads, reduced recoil, but still potent. 200 grain, roughly 1100 FPS and designed to mushroom from a short barrel.
Some people are going to mention the so called Buffalo Bore low recoil ammo, it's anything but, low recoil, it's still over 1000 lbs mve.
The Federal C44B is a 180 gr load in a mid power load, it's roughly 850 lbs mve. Stout, but manageable.
Short barrel 44's definitely transfer recoil more than the longer barrel variety.

i use a 3"44 mag as well as a 3"41mag.for concealed carry....sounds like you might want to look into reloading...you get what you want, when you want it and save a ton of money

Same here, there is something comforting about N frame. I carry a 3" 629 or a 4" 57MG in the winter myself for my CCW.

I reload a 240 grain bullet on top of 7 grains of Hogdon Universal. Hits hard.
