625-2 in LGS....
with the "made in 1988" on barrel and priced at $850.00.
95% cond.
It had an aftermarket green filament like front site and rubber grips. I'm assuming no box.
It was a HONKER of a gun and those cylinder holes were rather intimidating.
Is $830.00 reasonable?

Yes, that is a very decent price. The prices on these have been going crazy. It's for a good reason though. They are fantastic revolvers. If it happens to be a 3" that would be an even better deal.

No, it's a 5". And greenbacks may bring it down a bit....more like $800.00 OTD.
Thanks.

I agree. I ended up paying $1,000. OTD for a 4 inch 625-3 Model of 1989 in .45ACP. I soon concluded that it was worth every penny, and I haven't regretted paying so much.

About 18 months back I got a -2 (Model of 1988) for around $650. Thought I had a heck of a deal until I opened the box and found it had severe push-off and one shoulder of one chamber was buffed bright. Felt like I got taken until I put a stock main-spring and 14 or 15 pound rebound spring in it. Not only was the push-off gone but it ended up with a very controllable DA trigger pull. That shiny spot is still a little off putting (you can see it in the second picture - lower side of the cylinder) but over-all it a great shooting gun.
Be advised, the -2s have the floating hand, which is supposed to be a bad thing. I'm sure it is (who would lie about something like that?) but the hand in my gun hasn't caused a single problem yet. I will probably get around to changing it as soon as it does. (smile)

Better jump on that like an Okie chicken on a June bug! Those 625s are some fine shootin pieces... The first time l shot my 625-2 with 5" bbl l was shocked at the gun's accuracy! It's far more accurate than l am...

Confirmed $820 OTD.
They may have original front site, but as of now, it's a fiber optic.
What to do????!!!

The price is between you and the seller. However, I LOVE my two 625's (a 4" 625-8 JM Special and a 5" model of 1989 625-6) both in .45 ACP. I run 5000-7500 rounds a year through mine.
They just seem "user friendly" and I have shot my best scores with them.

Just purchased a 625-2 in VG condition (probably better), 5-inch for $825 and am very pleased to have it! The accuracy of these guns is awesome. I'm a Semi-auto enthusiast, but this model can really win you over.

I think that ALL of the Model 625-2's were 5 inch. I don't believe that 3 and 4 inch guns came along until the Model 625-3.
I bought my 625-2 new in March, 1989, first one I saw. They caused a bit of a stir when introduced. I got my 4 inch 625-3 in March, 1991. They are both pretty good shooters. The .45 ACP is a great revolver round. I hadn't any idea that used M-625-2's have gotten so expensive, but I guess all of the N frames have escalated a great deal over the last 3 or 4 years.

I really like mine, a Model of 1988. Found it here on the Forum a couple years back for around $600, with box and all. It appears prices have gone up a bit. The last two times I took it to the range I had fellow shooters trying to buy it on the spot, it's one I'll keep around tho'.
I'm not a big fan of the moon clips so I bought a couple thousand .45 auto rim cases to load in it. One thing I found out fast was that it will not chamber some designs of cast bullets, the ogive hits the neck of the cylinder chambers. I finally found an RCBS 255gr mould that casts squat bullets that shoot very well in it. Something to keep in mind, load a test round or two to make sure they will chamber before you start cranking out ammo for it.

Thanks Dave....may be a silly question, but will it fire without use of moon clips?

Yes, but you will have to punch the cases out one by one.

Yep, one of the all-time great revolvers. I had never even seen one for sale until one came along locally.
Had to swallow hard - 9 benjamins, but it came with a bunch of extras.
It was worth it, however. After all, you only live once.

I had no intentions of even looking for a .45 revolver, but after fondling for about 10 mins, I was sold.
And yes, releasing the greenbacks wasn't easy, but like you said these don't come around locally everyday.
