Default New Warm Weather carry gun

While I love carrying around my Model 27, now that its starting to get warmer I needed something new that I can just drop into a pocket holster, and a friend of mine had this little guy. I first fell in love with this design when I was 18 before I even had my permit. One of the local early delivery guys had a Smith 49 .38 Special he carried on his delivery route at 3-4 am. But they are not all that common. I have had a couple of Model 36's and was looking for one again, and then I spotted this 649 that is .38 Special +P rated. It's also a pre-lock gun which of course is nice. I have already ordered a set of Ahrends grips to replace the Hogues in the pic for a little ease in carrying the gun around.

I would rather carry 12 ozs. than 24 .. That thing would have my shorts around my ankles!
This is my choice... for now. I will see what it is like in summer shorts. It is still an ounce heavier than my 342.

Allglock,

What is the model number of that bad boy? Looks like something I might try to acquire.

Thanks.

Any lightweight J Frame in the pocket is great for all seasons.

I'll carry my BG38 when the pocket allows it. J-frame sized even though a lot of purists look askance at it.

It is a model 438, with a 342PD Ti cylinder.

Same here. It's so lightweight and compact that I'm always checkin' to make sure it's still there.

I switch back and forth between my 642 and LCP depending on how tight my pants are that day.
