Question Question on Model 29-5 Barrel Markings--Laser not Stamped

I have a Model 29-5 that is a 6" Blued mfg. 02-1992. Instead of being actually stamped it seems to be laser etched. Could someone please let me know if this is common, as it is really lightly done and doesn't jump out like an actual stamping. It looks like if I rubbed hard enough it would be gone. It is the same way on both sides where is says Smith & Wesson and other side where it says .44 Magnum. Any background or history would be appreciated as this is the only .44 I have seen like this. And is this a special run on this type of barrel markings?
Thank you

If you mean like the top and bottom guns in this photo,

it was used on 29 and 629 Classics and it is harder to remove than you might expect. I wipe my guns down with a solvent-soaked cloth and the etching hasn't been affected at all. Both those guns are -4s.
