Default 686 Frame marking

A friend recently purchased a new 686. Upon removing the grips, the markings shown in the picture were on the frame. I haven't purchased a new S&W for a number of years and was very surprised to find these marks. The 622 is probably an assembly number as it also appears in the yoke area. Are these markings typical or do they indicate some kind of rework?

Yes, I opened two of my more recently manufactured S&W revolvers and they had similar sorts of numbers in the same place and marked in the same way.
