Default SHOT MY 627 UDR TODAY

I got to take my 627-5 out today. I have been working like a fool for the last few weeks. Today I got a bit of time to myself so I picked a gun to shoot. It has been a while for the 627 UDR so out she came.

I put about 150 rounds of mixed handloads, full power, mid range and some +P. It is a truly superb weapon! The balance and feel make this the finest 357 I have ever fired. I have laser grips on it and I love how fast it is on knocking down a set of bowling pins and just ringing the gong.

If any of you are thinking of getting one of these I think you will love it.

Default UDR...

I see this term used by some and was wondering what exactly makes a "ultimate defensive revolver". I have looked at the R8 and was thinking that might be the UDR.
Thanks for your input.

I think it started with Clint Eastwood in "Bloodwork"

The term "Ultimate Defensive Revolver" started with Smith & Wesson advertising during the first production run of these revolvers. 2000 or 2001...I forget which without looking it up.

I just picked mine up on Friday. What a sweet gun. Ordered some leather for it from Lobo. "Cocked and Locked", quick question for ya. How do you like the Five Star loaders? What do you use to carry them?

I'm not overly impressed with the speedloader. The 8-round one is completely hollow inside and rattles like a "jingle bell" when I'm carrying it.

The 6-round ones simply have single holes for each cartridge and do not jingle like a bell.

I have a leather double pouch that holds two N-frame speedloaders. When its packed with two 5-Star 8 round loaders I sound like Santa's sleigh as I move around.

I much prefer a Tuff Products 8 round speed strip in a $8.00 pouch I had made.

The holster is from a semi-local maker here in NC...Murph's Custom Leather. These sell locally for about $35-$40. I had a nearby saddle shop make the speed strip pouch...$8.00. The belt is a shark skin one from RafterS. Had it so long I don't remember what it cost.

I had to add the retention screw as the holster was not snug enough on the 627-PC's slab sided barrel. It fit my 2.5" 629 fine but it has a conventional barrel profile and full lug.

629-5
