Default .22LR Aux cylinder for 48?

I know that S&W used to actually fit a .22 LR cylinder to .22 Magnum revolvers if you sent them back.

Are the current lot of .22 cylinders on the new "classic" series 17 the same length as they've been in the past? I'm thinking of ordering one and trying to fit it up- I've already got a cutting hand.
