Default Ahrend's N Frame Combat Grips

I've been wanting some wood grips for my model 629 for quite some time; but got frustrated with all the options, so I quit looking. Well, I finally found a pawn shop that had a S&W 29 that was wearing a pretty pair of Ahrend's grips, so I ordered some.

They were supposed to be my Father's Day present (first time celebrating by the way), but they got here early. I started to stash them back for the wife to give me mid June, but I wanted to make sure they fit well. Now I don't have the heart to pull them off.

I'm extremely impressed with how they fit and the finish is superb. They point much more naturally now than they did with the factory supplied rubber Houge Monogrip. Going out to shoot them after work tomorrow to see how they handle. I plan on shooting both some factory full magnums as well as some hand loads with 10 grains of Unique. I'll post a range report after!

These are great grips. They actually tame the recoil as well. You will enjoy them.

Very nice! I ordered myself set last week. The more I see grips like yours the more convinced I did right buying from Ahrend.

I really like Ahrends grips for my revolvers. These are the "Tactical" round-butt grips, which are symmetrical (L&R) with finger grooves and a flat front to facilitate alignment.

Ahrends grips have a slight palm swell and are fatter than corresponding Hogue grips to better distribute recoil. They facilitate a high grip style, for better flip control.

The tactical grips are easiest to shoot, but the "retro" grips are the most comfortable.

I really enjoy the Ahrend grips, I got about 4 sets and could not be happier. I'm waiting on my newest set in maple to arrive.

Some how I missed that on their website. That's even better as I have big paws. I had two hand surgeries over the years and that little bit extra wood in the palm swell makes it a lot better for me.

I have a new 325NG I ordered the Reto Bananas for. My will be Osage Orange, witch I picked 1st for the density, 2nd for the color. Interesting wood I have it as riser wood on one of my recurve bows. Osage is yellow when cut & worked and ir will go to tan to dark brown as it ages in Sunlight.

I shot it today with my new grips. Awesome! I started off with some light hand loads (10 grains of Unique over a 240 cast) and found them very managable. After 50 of those I followed up with 30 rounds of factory Remington 180 grn semi jacketed. Even with a full blown magnum round, the recoil was as plesant as I could expect from a 44. I found that the larger palm swell filled my hand well and dispersed the recoil very well. I don't see putting the factory rubber grips back on any time soon.
