I just picked up my new 627 Pro and noticed that the rear sight blade appears to be higher on the left side of the notch- slightly cock-eyed. I have tightened it down and moved it both left and right hoping it might align on its own. So far, no luck. Anyone have any ideas?
It sounds like the rear sight blade could have been installed crooked at the factory. It had happened to one of my S&W revolvers. Take the sight completely off the gun and use a good set of dial calipers with parallel jaws to make that determination. The left side will still be high measuring against the bottom of the sight body. To replace the blade is easy if you know what you are doing, both Brownells and the S&W factory sell replacement kits. You will also need to replace the screw and nut. It is about a 10 minute job for a gunsmith.
