I picked up a new 442 Pro Moonclip from Bud's a while back.
I next made an order to TK and got a few more moonclips as well as a couple of the California Competition Works
J Frame Moon Clip Carriers. They are a best kept secret. I stumbled on the Carriers by accident on TK's web site. I had never heard of the J Frame ones before that.
Someone asked WHY 38 Moon Clip Guns????
Several reasons:
1. On a short ejector stroke gun like a J Frame they help with positive ejection of all 5 rounds.
2. When loaded in Moon Clips 5 or 6 rounds of 38 Special ammunition takes up less space than when loaded in speed loaders.
3. Moon Clipped 38 Special ammunition can be carried on the belt in the small and compact California Competition Works moon clip carriers. I have to date not seen a good Concealed Carry Speedloader carrier that I liked.
4. A 38 Special reload can be performed much quicker with moon clips on the belt in a Moon Clip Carrier, than by speedloaders in a belt pouch with a flap.
5. In a match you normally cannot pick up your brass. When it is held by your moon clip you gather up your brass with your moon clip when you pick it up. You Keep all your brass.
6. No speedloader to get rid of after a reload. With a moon clip you drop it in the cylinder and close it up, DONE.
I have a 686 with a Clark Moon Clip Conversion, a 442 Moon Clip, a 310 Night Guard, a 610, and a 3" 625. I also owned at one time a 9mm SP101. Wish I had it back now. I have also owned several 25's, 625's, 1917's and Webleys over the years.
Did I mention that I like Moonclips.
