Opportunity to purchase 625-6 "45 Cal Model of 1989"
Hi all,
Looking for some advice from those here who know much more than I do.
I have the opportunity to buy a model 625-6 with a 5" barrel. The guy bought in 2000 or so. It is marked on the right side with "45 Cal Model of 1989", but I don't know if that is the actual year it was made.
The serial number is CEB14xx. Chambered in 45 Auto.
I may have the chance to buy it for less than $550 or $525. It is in nearly pristine condition without the box.
Thanks for your help, guys!

My thought is if you care enough to post on it then your mind is already made up and you just want support. Go get her, tiger. And post pics of her when she comes home.

That's true. Looking for information on it too cause I don't know as much about the 45 auto series...know more about the 45 Colt series (like the one I already have).
My father told me if I didn't buy it, that he would buy it so I'd better make up my mind. LOL!

I'm still not seeing pics up yet???????
Trust me, stock up on some Ranch Products moon clips, buy the Ultimate mooning tool, and you will quickly see how much fun you have been missing out on. My 625-3 promises.
Those are Rimz clips. I have an on again off again love of them. They need better Q/C and they might be perfect.

Haven't bought it yet, but it is set aside for me. I am going to get it. Does anyone with the SW catalog have a date for this one I am looking at?
And that is a beautiful 625.
Thanks for the advice on the moon clips. Should start stocking up on those now.

I have a 625-6 Model of 1989 (the design date, NOT necessarily the manufacture date) with 5" barrel. It is a DANDY revolver in every way:
These are superb revolvers (I also have a Model 625-8 JM Special that is at LEAST as desirable with a 4" barrel - these are my two most shot revolvers).

Put some money down on it today and got the final price...$515 was the grand total. Needless to say, I'm very happy. I will post pictures in a new thread once I pay it off.
Anyone have a date on the serial # CEB14xx?

I have a 625-8 JM with the evil lock and I love it. I don't use moon clips with mine and it shoots fine!

Sometimes it's handy to have connections at LGS's

Way to go a very nice snag! I very rarely do such a thing but I bought one sight unseen at a LGS over the phone. Turned out to be a very well used and slightly hammered specimen (must have been a pin and plate shooter) but since I really wanted a five incher I bought it. Wow, what a shooter, I love it. I suspect that you will be very happy with that one, enjoy!

I had the Model of 1988 that I bought new back in 1989. With my 200gr LSWC target handloads, it was the most accurate revolver I ever shot. I traded it for something I thought I had to have years ago and regret it mightily. If I came across another and had the money to spend, I would buy it.

I bought that same gun on a whim a few years ago, and paid a good bit more than you did. It was worth it, I'd forgotten how much fun you can have with an N-frame revolver. I put on a new front sight, changed the grips and did a quick trigger job on it, it didn't need anything else. Now it gets shot until it's too hot to hold, then it cools off, then I do it again until it's too filthy to touch. Then I clean it and start over.
You're gonna love it.

I know I shot someone else's 625-8 yesterday that's similar without the 1989 on the side and with a lock...thing is accurate as heck straight from the factory.
Can't wait to get it
