Default 640 38 Spec with the NYPD matte finish

Getting my first decent revolver.
It's a 640 no dash with a matte finish like the NYPD models.
Seems this must have been either blasted at factory or prior
to sale. Predates the NYPD matte models.

Congrats, this is a great carry piece. Mine is a 442 stain nickle, similar in appearance, dates to 1992, is pocket carried and shot for practice monthly, and is a great carry gun.

Mine is serial number BKU17xx. The below quote is from the seller,

Quote:
S&W Model 640 NO DASH, NO LOCK, NO MIM .38 Special Revolver that was shipped to & purchased
from the NYPD Equipment Section and was nothing more than a locker queen for many years

Default Model 640

I just picked up one myself dating from '91 with Pachmyer grips - can't wait to shoot it.
