Default 16-4 Tack Driver

I went to the range yesterday mostly to shoot a couple Anschutz .22 rifles. But I always bring a Smith with me to send a few revolver rounds down range. Yesterday I took this one:

I had a rifle target out at 50 yards and I put a shotgun wad at 25 yards and popped it with the first shot from the 16-4. This gun loves Fiocci .32 wadcutters.

With the Anschutz rifles and the 16-4 when I missed yesterday I could not blame the gun

Any M16 has a reputation for accuracy, but that 16-4 with the four inch barrel deserves high marks for style as well. Nice gun!

ARRGGH! You're making me impatient for my Project 616 to be finished. Visualize that exact gun (grips and all) in stainless with a pinned barrel and recessed chambers. BTW, do you know the twist rate S&W used on the 16-4? Were you shooting Fiocci Longs or do they make a wadcutter load for the H&R Mag as well? Curious minds...

Some very fine shooting. I doubt I could see a shotgun wad at 25-yards.

I have to agree on the little .32 wadcutters. I shot my own handloads using Hornady and Speer swaged WC bullets and 700-X powder through a couple winters at the local indoor range. Very nice combination in the Model 16-4. Had a lot of fun with it and probably couldn't have improved on it with a .22, but I am no champion marksman, either. I don't believe I was ever inclined to blame anything other than the shooter for a poor target.

Froggie-they were .32 longs. They are very accurate in this gun. I don't know the barrel twist, the 616 should be fun when you get done with it. I don't know why Smith doesn't make a K frame in .327, take a 617 and drill all the holes a little bigger. Oh and leave the freakin' lock off...
