Default 631 Picture request

Through a phone conversation I have an oppurtunity to buy a 4 inch 631 no dash, for what i believe to be a good price, fairly local.

I havent had the chance to go and see this gun yet but owner tells me
its in extremely nice shape, (ofcourse) wears pachs, (not sure what stock grip is) And not sure if they have box. (doesnt matter gonna be a shooter)

So Sure I have googled up pictures
And sure I have searched the forums

But as any other diehard Smith fan, I want to SEE and HEAR more.
So please throw up your pictures, info, ideas, stories
Thanks John

If i put this in the wrong era, I apologize, Maybe someone could move it.

Here's mine:

This is a superb little trail gun in most every way. I have a couple of different cast bullets I use to good effect on target and game. One is a 100 gr Keith Group Buy six cavity mould (Cast Boolit Forum) and the other is a Lee 90 gr wadcutter tumble lube six cavity mould. Unfortunately Lee no longer offers the wadcutter mould.

Another excellent bullet is the RCBS 98 gr SWC. It is only available in a two cavity mould but it is an EXCELLENT design.

I don't have a 4" version, but this 2" 631 came with the same factory correct grips and box as the 4".

I'll fix this with some different pictures. Here is the M631 with a Charter arms Patriot and the Carry Comp with the Hogue grips. The wax finish provides a good grip.

Agree w/ Dale..great trail gun. The Buffalo Bore 130gr hard cast are great loads. The J frame combats turn up every now and then in the $50-$100 range DOC. Mine is on the bottom in this pic. Enjoy it! JF

Stop thinking about buying it and DO IT NOW!!! I have a big collection of the model 631's and love them. If you get it for under $800.00 your doing great!!!
What are you waiting for???????
Do you get the hint that the 631 is the best kept secret in revolvers!!!!!!

There were 3 versions of the model 631: 4", 2", and 2" Lady Smith. The 4" and 2" shipped with the combat grips, and the 2" Lady Smith shipped with smooth rosewood magnas. The J frame combats can be had, I occasionally see them for sale here in the classifieds and on ebay.

Not of the greatest quality, but the owner sent me a few pictures.

Two things I find interesting : the gun appears to have the internal lock.
And the mod -631 stamp takes up the whole width of the frame,
Above the D is the number 1 ??

I am not passing it up because its only a few dollars north of
5 Benjamins.

Thanks John

The original 631's were only produced for one year, 1990, then a small run of 40 more with the 4" barrel was produced in 1998. Neither group had the lock. If you can post pictures we can comment further.
