I believe the 629-4 was the last of the "no MIM, no lock" guns.
I have a pair of 629-4 Mountain Guns with case color hammer/trigger, firing pin on the hammer, etc.

Default "from my cold dead hands"

As stated, S&W never made a 4" full lug 629 that I know of. I have a 629-4 with the 5" full lug barrel and my two son's can fight over it when I die!

My 5" -4. Good gun, no issues, no MIM, hammer-mounted firing pin. As I remember it shipped '93 -'94. Has tighter throats than my -3, but still works fine with my preferred loads.
