Default FIBER OPTIC SIGHT FOR 617

Hello,

I would like to replace my front sight on my 4" 617. I know HI Viz has a fiber optic for the 617. Is this a good choice? Is there another sight I should consider?

Thanks in advance

Larry

I have one on my 617. I really like it in the indoor range. Make sure you keep the original sight in case you decide to sell the gun.

I know of plenty of folks who dislike the HiVis greatly.

SDM makes a great sight.
Super Sights

These likely require the replacement of the rear sight blade, which is probably a good thing as the 617's blade is annoyingly tiny. Replacing the rear blade is cheap and easy.

I installed the hiviz on my 617. The tang is oversize so you have to fit it. Just take your time taking a little metal at a time. Took me about 15 min. It took longer to find a punch small enough to get the pin out

My 640 Pro came with terrific front and rear night sights. If the dovetails match, I'd try to buy the front sight from S & W.

Or maybe have S & W retrofit both front and rear sights. These are easily the best sights I've seen on a snubbie. And the best fixed sights I've seen on any revolver.
