I could never say your 627PC is anything but a thumbs up. But when going 357mag snubbie, for my needs I have to give a bigger thumbs up to my Lew Horton, 686-4 Plus, 7 shot, with 2 1/2in magnaported barrel. Switched to Altamont boot grips since these photos were taken.

At 7 rounds it gives up one shot versus the 8 shot 627PC, but the L frame conceals a little better for me than an N frame.

Default I've got her sister

Twomoons, I assume that yours is a 627-5 (with the internal lock)...I have the exact same revolver (ca. 2010), and even have the same Crimson Trace stocks. Great handgun- accurate, smooth, and fun to shoot. I'm a dyed in the wool N-frame guy, and this gun is every bit as special as my vintage 27s, 28s, and 29s. I too like the idea of 8 rds., and often have a speedloader or set of Tuff speed strips along just in case. The only negative I've found has nothing to do with the 627, but with the CT stocks. When shooting full power .357s, the laser housing tends to recoil back into my trigger finger joint at the knuckle. I now shoot (and carry) 125 gr. personal defense rounds, and no longer experience the problem with the CTs. I'm also thinking of replacing the front site with Hi-Viz fiber optic for daytime shooting. Unfortunately, here in Florida, concealed carry requires special care and thinking due to casual wear most of the year. Shoulder holsters are out of the question except in the cooler months. I usually keep my 627 in a Backwoods holster in the console or in the Harley's saddlebag, and have a 642 in my pocket for emergencies. Nice revolver...enjoy!

Just a little bigger than a J frame. Just a little bigger than a 686.

Can't decide ... M327 or 627 snub nose-dsc_0014-jpg

I'm not a snubbie fan. But the one I've always wanted to own is the 627PC. What a graceful and beautiful gun.

They are sweet shooting, but a bit heavy to carry, even in a shoulder holster. I had a fluted cylinder installed in mine, seems a little more graceful than the unfluted. The original stocks hold recoil better than it would seem for such small stocks. i tried some Hogue smooth wood stocks, but they were too large for my hands.

What could possibly be better than a 2 5/8" PC627 UDR??

Two of them!

Stainz

PS A bit large for a pocket gun anyway, so I tried - and liked - and settled - on The PC Shop grips. Those original Eagle boot grips were smallish.

Default IL on 627

Can you tell me if any 627's were made without the IL, and if so what model or year? I see one photo'd without the IL, but can't tell if it was removed or from factory? thanks.

The first ones were without the lock. Also the frame/hammer area is a little different...and sometimes the front sight.

Here is my no-lock one again but with some Pachmayr Compag grips on it. The factory supplied Eagle grips look nice but are too small for my hand.

Mine is model number marked inside the crane as "627-PC"

I don't know if the newer ones have the same model designation or not.

I understand they made 302 of them without the lock. Apparently, there were a few of the new ones with the lock made with fluted cylinder. The one's without the lock were bringing large dollars before the new productions ones were made, don't know what they are bringing now as I have not seen any of the older ones for sale.

The 627's cool and groovy but at nearly 38 ounces it's a bit heavy for everyday carry but it's a good gun for home defense.
Actually, I'd like one of each. I like all things snubby.

I love the 627 snubby. 627s in general are my fave revos. I plan to some day get a UDR to match my 5" PC piece. Having said that, I can't imagine really carrying it unless you completely plan around it with an open carry holster. Seems awfully heavy to carry it concealed. Great home defender though.

I also just got a 627 PC from my LGS. It's going to accompany my 629 PC. Got to try it out at the range. Got some kick and sting a little, but I love it.

I agree, they are too heavy, IMO, carrying one would get old fast. I had two of the original 302 a while back, now I have a 327NG. I like it a lot, it's nice compromise between the 627 UDR and your gun.

The 2 5/8" 627 PC revolvers are fine guns. I accidentally ended up with two, but won't sell either one:
