Default Current 629 Rubber Grips

Hello All.
New to Forum,and first post.
I`m looking at 629`s , so went out to handle some today.
I looked at a 4" and a 5". One had the Hogue Rubber Grips , and one had the stock rubber grips that the new 629`s are coming through with now. (not the Comp or v-Comp)
I did not like the Hogues at all , but really liked the stock grip.
Does anyone know who`s making these for S&W?
Almost forgot to mention that I prefer the Rubber grips over wood. (As far as practicality goes)
Regards, Pete

Pachmayr has at least four different types of rubber grips for the 29/629.

I'll take the wood ones any time over rubber ones.
They look so much better and are quadruple the price.
Wanna trade?

I think all these new 629s are round butt, so the new OEM rubber grip wouldn't fit on an older square butt version.

The only rubber grip I ever cared for at all was the no longer made Uncle Mike's. Sadly, AFAIK, these were never made for the N-Frame revolvers. Those new S&W OEM ones look similar.

I, too can't stand Hogues. Any Hogues. When they come on a gun, I replace them immediately with Ahrends.

Thanks for the Replies.
I did a few searches , and it seems like there`s quite a bit of interest in these new grips.
I e-mailed S&W about it today , and will post their reply when I get it.
Regards, Pete

I believe Hogue must make the new rubber grips for the 629. Although the new grips have the S&W logo on them they are identical to the S&W tamer grips that I believe are made by Hogue also that come on the .460 and .500 S&W revolvers. I had the stock S&W rubber grips on my 629 but liked the color and purchased ( orange but they also have yellow ) the rubber grips on the S&W .460 and .500 that came in the special survival kit. These orange and yellow rubber grips also have the S&W logo on them but attach with the stirrup like alot of Hogue grips do. Pretty sure they are all made by Hogue.

I know rubber grips ( goodyears ) are not purdy like wood grips but I perfer the rubber because of the grip even whith sweaty or wet hands and I believe they reduce felt recoil also. The rubber grips also can take a licking and keep on ticking out in the real outdoor world with no sign of wear or abuse.
