Default Picked up a new 627-5 PC

This is my 2nd revolver but it's been 18 years since I sold my first revolver, a Sturm and Ruger Security Six that I purchased back in the late 1970's.

When I sold my Security Six around 1989, I had a neutral feeling about it. I wasn't shooting it much and it had never felt as good as my friends M27 or M29. S&W made fantastic guns in the 70's.

18 years, 3 rifles, two semi-auto pistols and a few TC barrels later, I finally decided it was time to go back to my roots and purchase a revolver. I narrowed it down to a Ruger GP100 and originally a 686, but when I accidentally clicked over to the Performance Center, I saw the gun I wanted. I was able to rent one at a local range and it shot great. I bought the gun that same afternoon.

I picked it up last Friday and finished shooting it on Sunday. I'm not the best shot and I'm discovering I'm "thumbing" my grip but despite that, my last 8 shots at 10 yards with my handloads of .38 specials ( 158 gr. SWC w/ 4.4 gr. Unique ) produced a quarter sized print (if you disregard the one flyer). For me, that was a testament to how well the gun performs (and this wasn't even on a sand bag.)

Here's a few pics I took:
