Thanks, guys. I also sometimes carry a fullsize 1911 or M&P9. I carry them both IWB. This is definitely more comfortable, but I have to admit I miss having more ammo capacity, and easier reloads when I carry the 686. I will probably get flamed...but it's just how I feel.

To each there own.
I carry a 640 pro and two sets of moonclips for reloads.
May not have the high capacity or quick reloads but I would hope after the first shot sends the carjacker, mugger, etc to the ground any accomplice will start running.
And if not 4 more rounds of .357 should be enough to make a difference.
So I'd be confident in what you could do with two more shots in each cylinder.

Whatever works for you is a good choice. I've always been a big proponant of revolvers for concealed carry. You have a nice setup there and no one who has ever carried a firearm for serious social work will never flame you.

Thanks again, gentleman. What I need to do it shoot the ever-loving piss out of this thing. I shoot semi-autos a lot better than this snubby...but it is nothing that thousands of rounds of dry fire/live fire won't cure.

Also, I am carrying "Remington Home defense" .38 +Ps in this thing (I think they are just Golden Sabres". Everyone had good luck with these? Anyone have a link to some gel testing of them?

I like your set up. I have to ask -How and where do you conceal the speedloader case/holder? Seems kind of large for everyday unless you are out away from crowds and in the country. Just asking because I switched from a 9mm to a 36 and have been carrying speed strips and haven't figured out how to conceal loaders yet. Pocket carry doesn't work because my pockets are full.

I carry them in the 4 o'clock position (I AM LEFT HANDED -- the same as 8 oclock for a right hander). I am a large framed man. My every day dress is a un-tucked button-up collared shirt. I have no issues concealing the speed loader pouch.

It is HKS. About 15 bucks generally. It is made out of Hytrel plastic (I compare it to a hard rubber, I guess).

For speed strips, check the Tuff Products site for a low-key nylon belt pouch that will hold two strips. Attaching a not-so-great pic of mine below; pouch is to the left of the iPhone belt clip.

I use that same speed-loader holder as the OP, but in plain finish - also highly recommended! I'm a righty and position the loaders at about 2 o'clock or so - not an issue under either an untucked button-up shirt or an open fleece vest, sport coat, etc.

I think the 686-Plus is one of the best CCW guns out there in a real caliber.....I love my 38's, but the 3" 357 has been a serious tool for serious people for decades. I took mine to the range this week for some steel plate drills, and was immediately reminded what an absolutely amazing DA trigger this gun has. I love getting this revolver dirty!

Thanks for the reply.
I'm going to give it a try and see if it will work for me. I carry my 36 in a Bianchi 3s at 3 o'clock. The speed loaders just behind it might work. Thanks again

How do you carry that speed loader holder and prevent it from printing?

I am 6 ft 3 in, and large framed. An un-tucked button up shirt has always done fine for me. This setup is not for everyone.

I don't know about the Remingtons, but Speer makes a 135 gr Gold Dot especially for short barrel guns, in both plus P and Magnum. They are well respected, and meet FBI protocol for penetration and expansion. The Magnums are reduced power, and should shoot well in the 686.
