Can someone tell me when 10-6 S/N 3D07689 was made?

An early "3D" serial number would not have shipped before 1977. But S&W had no policy requiring shipment in serial number order, so the gun could have shipped somewhat later.

The one below is serial number 3D137xx which I am thinking dates to about 1978.
