Need input on a 686 no-dash trade
A buddy I work with is wanting my 686 no-dash. He has offered to trade me his Belgium-made Browning A5 Light 20 ga for it straight up, both in great shape.
I have always wanted a Belgium Browning, but wonder if this is a fair deal. I hate to part with the 686, but it doesn't get used much (I prefer my 629 ) and is a safe queen. I think both the pistol and the shotgun are not going to ever drop in value from where they are now.
What would you do?

Financially it sounds to be a great deal for you, but it really depends on how much you like or want the A5.

I think either firearm would be a good heirloom for my kids (if we are allowed to do that in the future )
My 686 is a fine example, but as I said, I never shoot it. I probably wouldn't shoot the Browning much either. It would be more of a itch that needs scratching IYKWIM.

I would make the trade if the A5 is in good condition as they are great shotguns and they have a huge following.

I agree make the trade. For another $550 you can replace the 686 with another one. I doubt you will replace the A5 at that price.

Well ****, the Browning wasn't Belgium, but Japan. I shot it down.
Honestly, even though I don't shoot the 686 much, I am glad it didn't work out.

Yes. There is nothing wrong with the Miroku-made Brownings, but they have neither the charm nor the value of those made across the other pond.
You did well to hang onto your L frame.
