Default Help Identifying Target Stocks

Mods, please move this to the 1961-1980 section if it belongs there.

I recently bought an older K-Frame from one of my local haunts and the gun was wearing these stocks. From the condition and the carved out "K" on the inside of the stocks, I assume that they are not that old. I don't think they are that valuable, but they look cool and are pretty comfortable. I really only know S&W factory stocks/grips.

Thanks for the help. Sorry for the upside down pictures.

Looks like Herrett or maybe Jay Scott target grips from the '70s. Probably Herrett due to the darker color.

They look a lot like Vintage Fitz walnut stocks I've seen on eBay, but there is no Fitz marking on the bottom. I'm pretty sure that Fitz is the company that puts the imprinted "K" on the inside of the stocks, but I'm not positive.

Not all the older Fitz stocks carried the mark on the bottom and everything else about your set points to Fitz. Nice find.

Edit to add: if you decide not to keep them, I know a forum member who's looking for a set of those.

They look like Fitz stocks for a Lefty.

Here is a Righty set on a Model 48:

They have a great feel.

Thanks for sharing,

Ash's are for right-handers, too. His photos got flipped somehow to where they're showing mirror images.

Here is what his look like properly:
