Factory Recommended Bullet Weight for Fixed Sight .38 Special K Frames....
I'm wondering what bullet weight the fixed sights on K Framed Snubs are regulated for..? I'm willing to find out by shooting EVERYTHING , but I thought there might be a Standard....Thanks Gents....Zebulon
Assuming you are referring to a 38 Special, it would be the standard velocity 158 gr.. This is also a 158 gr. in the .357 Magnum. Then there is the 32 S&W Long, and the 22 Rimfire and 22 Rimfire Magnum. There are also some 9mm in the K Frame.
I know this to be true in all of my k frame .38 specials as well and with my hand loads of similar ballistics. I have always wondered where this fact came from though .... has it been documented in any S&W material anywhere? I am not doubting any of it ... just curious where S&W may have published this at any point.
When I first started buying S&W revolvers about 25 years ago, I just started buying what was then the most recommended .38 Special load at the time. The 158 gr. Lead Semi-Wadcutter as I recall....never really thought about it or bothered to ask...It was all new to me then so I just mimiced what I read and heard......Thanks Guys for the clarification.....Zebulon
