When did S&W stop including a cleaning kit and a screw driver with new revolvers?

I think sometime in the mid-1980s; the final version was a straight rod with checkering at one end (no loop), the bore brush and mop, and a flat stamped metal sight adjustment tool.

You could very well be right, someone here probably has NIB guns from that era and knows for sure.
