Default 617 owners, is this normal?

I picked up my new 617 several months ago and after about 1500 rounds I have noticed that a ridge of crud builds up between the cylinder and forcing cone on the top of the frame. Also, very, very rarely I can what I think might be some sort of splatter bouncing of the lane divider at the range.

Is this normal with the 617 or might mine have a timing issue?

Very normal after 1500 rounds! 22's are very dirty.

That's what I was hoping to hear. I love my 617 more and more each time I shoot it and would be sad if I had to send it in!

All revolvers build up crud on the top strap above the forcing cone. There's a cylinder gap, and stuff comes out of it, including bits of powder and possibly lead.

Bad timing would result in an asymmetric buildup around the front of the charging hole, and in gross cases, pepper your hand with shavings, or your neighbor in the next lane.
