Default 640-1 Grip options

Just got a nice 640-1 .357 Magnum. I put on some Hogue Bantam rubber grips to replace the Pachmayer Compacs that were on it. I really want wood, and I prefer a boot or magna style. Show me what y'all have on your 640-1's.

Well, as much as I hate to say it, ebay is the place for grips.

Do a search for "j frame boot grips" and take a look...

Good luck with your new toy!!!!!!

Default From another 640-1 grips post...

Welcome to the 640-1 Club!

As far as grips go.......I tried these stocks first. Carried well, but the recoil was a little less "fun" than I really liked:

Then I tried these. Looked and felt great, but seemed a little too nice for my daily CCW:

I finally went full circle and switched back to the OEM Uncle Mike's. The feel perfect, reduce felt recoil and don't print even with pocket carry (for me):

Congrats on the 640-1 and good luck settling on the just-right grips for your needs. Try the UM's if you haven't yet!

Default 3" centennial

Photoman44,

[/QUOTE]

A 640 with a 3" barrel has been one of my wishlist guns; I think it might be a good compromise in the size/weight/power trade off.

What has been your experience with that? Is it a factory gun or a custom put-together?

Cheers,
